Fred Walker joined with Bill Ruffler in 1934, who was already in the business of operating some cigarette vending machines. They founded Ruffler and Walker (R&W), of Clapham (Greater London, UK). In 1969 R&W had sold out to Phonographic Equipment (PE). There are 2 varieties known.
Obverse
Die 1 - wide rim, symbol & in logo is wide, letter F in OF on the same level with O.
Die 2 - narrow rim, symbol & in logo in narrow, letter F in OF higher then O.
Reverse
Die D - 4 oak branches intersect in pairs, the tops of leaves are narrow, the nose of 1 in 2 lines.
Die F - 4 oak branches do not intersect, the tops of leaves are wide, the nose of 1 in 3 lines.
