This token is not listed in Lucien Lariche's ACJM book "Les jetons de bal", but it is mentioned as being the neighbor of the "Au Lionel's" ball.In 1933, Quinn's opened its doors on the waterfront near the Papeete market under the management of "Bouzou" Frogier and Marcelle Quinn. A famous Tahitian dance hall, Quinn's was to liven up Papeete's nightlife in the sixties. In a way, it was an institution of Polynesian joie de vivre, a mecca for binge drinking and Tahitian music whose reputation spread around the world.
The best musicians of the time, led by guitarist Jown Gobrait, played all kinds of music to satisfy the clientele. First for the locals who want Tahitian waltzes and tamure, then for tourists who want to hear Pop or Jazz, and the younger crowd who want frug rock, watusi and other swim dances from the sixties. But of course, everyone loves the rumba and cha-cha.
The doors of this Mecca of Tahitian binge drinking were closed for good in 1973 by the Hygiene Department on grounds of "insalubrity".
