Azure, a leg bone in pale, ensigned by a phoenix rising and between two grapefruits, all Argent. https://armorialdefrance.fr/page_blason.php?ville=7132Local tradition, based on the ravings of 19th- and early 20th-century scholars, had it as a Phoenician foundation, a Mycenaean palace or a Ligurian oppidum dating back to the First Iron Age.
Recent research has uncovered a large agricultural settlement protected by a solid enclosure. The urban organization is very tight. Large, single-storey dry-stone dwellings are built around a main street that runs right through the village. The first floor of each dwelling houses pressing structures for wine and oil production.
The earliest traces of occupation date back to the 2nd century BC, but the most active period was between the Augustan and Flavian periods26. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%88ze
