Comment

The plain ermine evokes Brittany, the wavy and the azure the sea which is located in the south of the department. These coats of arms created by the heraldist Robert Louis and proposed to the departmental authorities in 1961 have never been officially adopted. However, they are used by the Association of Morbihan Mayors as well as on the ships of the General Council which commute to the islands.
