Comment
These tokens minted at the Poissy workshop were sent for an attempted coinage among the natives. They were used as a countermark for the payment of taxes, then for varying values depending on the animal represented.For the Middle Congo, we know the elephant token from 1925 and the panther token from 1926.
For Gabon, we know of tokens issued between 1925 and 1928 bearing elephant, rhinoceros, buffalo, panther and pelican.
