Nijō Castle (二条城, Nijō-jō?) is located in Kyoto, Japan. It was built by Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1603. It consists of two concentric circles of fortifications, Ni no Maru (二の丸) and Honmaru (本丸) palaces, various support buildings and several gardens. It covers a total area of 275,000 m2, including about 8,000 m2 of buildings.
