Noirmoutier is a French island in the Bay of Biscay, in the Vendée département (85). It is linked to the mainland by a submersible causeway known as the Passage du Gois and, since 1971, by a bridge. It is made up of four communes, grouped together in a community of communes called Île-de-Noirmoutier. Its length is approximately 18 km, its width varies from 500 m to 12 km, and its surface area is 49 km2.https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Île_de_Noirmoutier
