Children explore money, coins and other means of payment in the interactive exhibition "KleinGeld" of the Berlin State Mint.
Children explore how money works in the interactive exhibition "KleinGeld" at the State Mint Berlin. It's all about money, coins and other means of payment. In modern society, (almost) nothing works without money. In the exhibition, children learn and explore what money is, how it works and how it is made in an exciting and playful way.
Money and other means of payment
With 13 interactive stations, the hands-on exhibition "Small Money" of the State Mint Berlin introduces the children to the topic of money. In exchange games, for example, they learn to better understand the value of money. A rate game is about exotic means of payment from all over the world. And they use a press to test for themselves how much weight has to be applied to press an image onto a coin.
The "KleinGeld" exhibition was mainly designed for school classes with children in the 9-11 year age group, but individual visitors and other age groups are also welcome in the exhibition. Prior registration is required for school classes.
Accompanying material
It is recommended to purchase the didactic accompanying material for the preparation and follow-up of the exhibition visit at cost price. A material case contains a DVD with a 5-minute film about coin production, an accompanying book in which the children can also record their work results at the individual play stations and a medal to commemorate their visit to the hands-on exhibition of the Berlin State Mint.
