Mervyn's was a clothing retailer headquartered in Hayward, Cal. with stores primarily in Cal. They opened in 1949 and had some 100 stores by 1983. With the growth of the company's IPO in 1971 it was bought by Dayton Hudson (Target). Sold in 2004 to equity firms who went bankrupt in 2008 thus ending Mervyn's.
