Jantzen Beach Center Carousel was originally a part of an amusement park in 1922. Located on Hayden Island in the Columbia river. The amusement park was demolished in 1970 leaving only the carousel. It was restored at a cost of $500,000 and placed in a pavilion, becoming the center of a large shopping mall. When the mall was up for restoration. They close the attraction in 2012 and demolish the pavilion. The carousel was then placed in storage. Later they donated it to Restore Oregon in 2017. They have work hard on its restoration. Delicate work since the horses are all hand carved. Parts of the carousel and historic photos can be seen at the Oregon Historic Society. The exhibit opens on November 18, 2022 and runs through April 20, 2023. see more at the following links. https://restoreoregon.org/oregons-most-endangered-places-the-jantzen-beach-carousel/ https://www.ohs.org/museum/exhibits/historic-jantzen-beach-carousel.cfm
