Margaret Hilda Roberts, Baroness Thatcher, born October 13, 1925 in Grantham and died April 8, 2013 in London, was a British stateswoman.
Daughter of a grocer and a seamstress, she was a chemist and then a lawyer by profession. She entered the UK Parliament in 1959 and served as Secretary of State for Education and Science in the Heath government from 1970 to 1974.
She was the first woman to lead the Conservative Party from 1975 to 1990. She was also the first woman to serve as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from May 4, 1979 to November 28, 1990.
