Louis of France, Duke of Burgundy, is the eldest son of the Grand Dauphin. Born in 1682, his tutor was Fénelon, who composed for him his Fables and his Adventures of Telemachus. A poor general in Flanders in 1708, he became Dauphin in 1711, but died the following year of smallpox. He is the father of Louis XV.
