Louis XIII, jeton made by Sedan or Stenay, s.d.Ardennes - Fabrique de Jetons de Sedan. Jeton LOUIS XIII.
Perhaps an item which was formerly gilt.
Ardennes - Jetons Factory, Sedan (1614-1642)
A factory for jetons existed in Sedan after 1613-1614. It was entrusted to Daniel Goffin, Protestant engraver installed at Givonne near Sedan. The jetons are manufactured imitations of royal jetons, and are made using mechanical tools which the principality of Sedan was equipped with. It has a star with five spokes as different on many of these jetons. This workshop probably closed with the abandonment of the Principality to France in 1642. Quoted from: Jules Rouyer a study on a French appearance of jetons factory in Sedan the time of Louis XIII, Numismatic Journal, 1887.
