Lajos (Louis) Kossuth was "governor" of Hungary during a brief uprising in 1849 which was put down by Russian troops that same year. Kossuth fled to Turkey where he gave himself the title of governor president. He spent the rest of his life in exile.The Yale University Art Gallery has one of these on display that they date as 1851.
