Comment
The town owes its name of Cologne to the Roman empress Agrippina, wife of the emperor Claudius, who elevated her birthplace to the rank of colony in theyear 50, under the name of Colonia Claudia Ara Agrippinensium. The Romans held a garrison here, and Roman roads converged on a ship bridge that carried a large volume of trade to all parts of Germania.https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cologne#Fondation_et_p%C3%A9riode_antique
