Limited editions of medallions have been stamped from the copper cabinets that housed wires carrying electricity from Hoover Dam's generators to the transformers. These cabinets have been replaced with more efficient materials, allowing the copper to be used in the manufacture of these one-of-a-kind products. Each medallion includes a certificate of authenticity, is individually numbered, and contains a brief history of the copper's role in the operation of Hoover Dam. These medallions are stamped from 100% Hoover Dam copper, and depict two of the Hoover Dam Intake Towers which are an integral part of the dam’s operation, delivering water from Lake Mead to the dam’s generators to produce power for millions of people. The original copper of each medallion has not been altered or cleaned and reflects the natural condition of the copper. These medallions are the fourth medallion in a set of six.
I found reference to 5000 of each coin being made.
