The three-cylinder self-propelled aerodynamic train set was commissioned in 1961 for the German Reichsbahn-East .There was not enough money to build a new fast-moving locomotive, suitable for speeds around 170 km/h, that's why the "Rekolok" is a product made from older parts, equipped with a new boiler.
