In South Africa, a Garrat GMAM locomotive was commissioned.The locomotive went as far as Klipplaut through the Lootsberg pass. With a weight of almost 200 tons and a length of 28.6 meters it is an impressive locomotive.
It has a large elongated boiler and two separate engines, with the coal stern above the front engine and the 9.6 m³ of water at the rear of the engine.
