Allusion to Henri IV's marriage to Marie de Médicis, celebrated in Lyon on December 17, 1600 (J. de Bie, La France métallique, 1636, p. 277).Reverse legend: end of dactylic hexameter. For the clausule lilia florent, cf. Ovide, Art d'aimer, 2, 115. This clausule was later used under Louis XIII for tokens of the King's Council and the Chancellery.
