The Cap Gris-Nez lighthouse illuminates the Pas de Calais coastline. The current lighthouse was commissioned in 1957.
It is a stone construction located in the classified site (1987) of the two Opal Coast capes (Cap Blanc-Nez and Cap Gris-Nez).
At its foot is the CROSS Gris Nez.
The first lighthouse was lit in 1837, raised in 1861 and electrified in 1869. Destroyed by the Germans in the summer of 1944, the tower was rebuilt in 1952. The optics float in a mercury bath.
The lighthouse was listed as a historic monument on December 30, 20101.
