Cette médaille a été frappée pour être offerte, sous différents modules de 35, 70, ou 90 mm, aux donateurs américains de vêtements et de vivres. Le transport de ces jetons vers ses donateurs avait été interdit par les Allemands à cause des effigies royales de l'avers.
