The Petřín lookout tower, nicknamed the Prague Eiffel Tower, is one of the dominant cities. The 60-meter high lookout tower towers above Mala Strana and offers a magnificent view not only to Prague Castle but also to other Prague landmarks. Its construction was commenced in 1891 at the initiative of the Czech Tourists Club. Her creators freely inspired the Paris Eiffel tower. The foundations lie at an altitude of 324 m. It hides a pair of stairs with 299 stairs up and the same number for the downhill. The tourists are designated for two observation platforms, the upper one is situated at an altitude of 55 meters.
