Comment
Durante degli Alighieri and often referred to as Dante, was an Italian poet, writer and philosopher. Born in Florance, Italy. Best known for his masterpiece La Commedia (known in English as The Divine Comedy), which is universally considered one of world literature's greatest poems.
I have seen reference to this medal as silver plated.
