This token was probably used by a commercial coffee establishment in the city of Taubaté, in the interior of the state of São Paulo, Brazil.
"Taubaté is a Brazilian municipality in the interior of the state of São Paulo, located in the Vale do Paraíba region.
Traditional Paulista municipality, played an important role in the historical and economic evolution of the country. In the gold cycle, it was an irradiating nucleus of bandeirismo, discovering gold in the state of Minas Gerais, founding several cities. In the Second Reign, during the coffee outbreak of the Paraíba Valley, it stood out as the municipality of greater production in the São Paulo area, hosting the Covenant of Taubaté in 1906. It stands out as a pioneer city in the Paraíba Valley, since it was its first official village (the equivalent, today the municipality) in 1645, head of county in 1832, imperial city in 1842, industrial center in 1891 and diocese in 1906".
