In 1925, Jack Holloway aged 53, founded the Samson Novelty Company in a basement in Dean Street. The name of the new company was derived from the Lodge of Freemasons of which he was a member. He was soon joined in this new venture by his younger brother Charles, as well as his three sons, John, Charlie and Harry.
