The "Le Pélican" death fund was founded in 1956. It was administered by representatives of the Red Cross, Maison du Sang, Union Nationale and blood donor associations.Due to a progressive lack of members, and consequently a deficit in its self-financing, it was dissolved at the beginning of 1991.
