Minted by the Royal Dutch Mint, Utrecht; different privy marks.
From 2002 onwards, these tokens were issued in special Euro coin birth year sets, available from the Batavian Coin Company. The token could be taken out for engraving without damaging the sealing of the coins.
2004 Birth set
Starting 2006, separate sets were issued for boys and girls. A third, gender neutral set was introduced in 2013.
Beginning in 2012. small amount of sets were produced with a silver version of the token, described as N# 12271947.
The small size token was issued in a small set (and/or coin card), with only the 1 cent coin of the year.
The small size (22 mm) is described as N# 333889 .
The tradition of birth sets with a special token started in 1996. Until 2001, a token with a teddy bear was used in Dutch guilder sets.
