This token is recorded in Hern's Handbook on South African Tokens (Second Edition 2009) as #30a (Type 2) on pages 27 and 28. Varieties exist, listed below.Hern notes that the tokens were used between 1908 and 1915. There is no evidence to answer the question of whether this company was related to the Automatic Vaudeville Company that formed part of the foundation of the American movie industry.
