Coat of arms: "Vert, a silver tower senestrated of a forewall of the same to the dexter and a cross treflé also argent to the sinister."The Abbey of Aulps or Abbey Sainte-Marie-d'Aulps is located at an altitude of 800 m in a valley in the Chablais region of Haute-Savoie (France), 24 km southeast of Thonon-les-Bains and 9 km northwest of Morzine. It is a former Cistercian abbey founded around 1094 and now in ruins: disused after the arrival of French troops in 1792 and sold as national property, it was used as a stone quarry after the village church burnt down in 1823. In its early centuries, it was the center of an autonomous seigneury. Since 2007, the site has been home to the Domaine de découverte de la vallée d'Aulps (Aulps Valley Discovery Centre), which presents the life of the former monks. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abbaye_d%27Aulps
