Comment

The inhabitants of Masnières are called Masnièrois. The municipal area is 10.97 km2 and the population of 2,731 inhabitants in 2018. The opening of the Saint-Quentin canal, inaugurated in 1810, favored the industrialization of the municipality. In 1818 a glass factory was set up, and other industries followed until the beginning of the 20th century. Masnières was the scene of heavy fighting during the Battle of Cambrai offensive in 1917 (source = Wikipedia).
