Comment
These tokens were issued in 1847 for third-class passengers on the Montréal & Lachine Railroad. According to the Charlton Catalogue of Canadian Colonial Tokens, 9th edition (2015) p. 258, they were used until 1862.The original token should not be confused with the souvenir issue of 1947, with dates 1847 and 1947 added to the left and right of the locomotive respectively. These souvenirs were meant to celebrate the centenary of the opening of the line.
