Tawazun Economic Council (Tawazun), founded in 1992, is the industry enabler responsible for the creation and development of a sustainable defense and security industry in the UAE. Tawazun serves as the catalyst for economic growth by enhancing engineering and R&D programs, increasing the participation of UAE SMEs, developing the defense and security industry supply chains, managing the UAE’s defense and security acquisitions and regulating and managing the Tawazun Economic Program.

On the 5th of November 2019, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces inaugurated EDGE, a company set to reposition the UAE as a notable global player in advanced technology. Starting with break-through innovations in the high investment defence sector, and with a priority on national security, EDGE consolidated more than 25 entities, including subsidiaries from the Emirates Defence Industries Company (EDIC), Emirates Advanced Investments Group (EAIG), Tawazun Holding, and other independent organisations.
