The Danish Conservative People's Party had been a vocal opponent af a settlement, Kanslergadeforliget of January 30. 1933, between the current government, consisting of the Social Democrats & the Danish Social Liberal Party, and the party Venstre, which resulted in the devaluation of the Danish Krone. The Conservative People's Party minted the Stauning krone token to represent a devaluation of 44%. The message was that the Danish Krone now had a value of 56% of its former value - Which is why the token is only 56% of a Danish Krone from that time.
The coin/token was named after the Danish Prime Minister at the time, Thorvald Stauning.
