Comment

Johann Heinrich Pestalozzi (1746-1827) was born into a wealthy family from Zurich's cultivated bourgeoisie. A philanthropist and educationalist, a social reformer and a political philosopher of national and international renown, he left his mark on the decades between the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, an era known as the Sattelzeit. Today, he is known from Russia to Brazil, from Mexico to Japan. Many streets and schools, as well as research and documentation centres, bear his name.
