The Compiègne Regional Exhibition, bringing together 18 departments in northern France, opened on Sunday May 20, 1877. It lasted over 3 months, closing on Sunday September 2.It was inaugurated on Saturday May 26 by Marshal de Mac-Mahon (the day before, he had inspected the construction site of the Paris Universal Exhibition, due to open the following year).
