The kuna symbol was first used in Croatia in the 13th century on a coin of the currency then called Slavonski Banovac. Some would like to portray the kuna symbol as exclusively Ustasha, although this symbol was used as far back as 700 years before the NDH. Token may have been issued at the time when Croatia was part of Yugoslavia.
