The establishment has been in existence since 1890, when it was known as "Restaurant Schintgen". The couple Eugène Strommenger and Camilly Kaufmann took over the restaurant on February 1, 1946, and ran it until December 29, 1964.After his career as a hotelier, Eugène Strommenger became the first general secretary of the Brasserie Nationale. The latter was created following the merger of the Bofferding and Funck-Bricher breweries. Eugène Strommenger was generally a very committed person, a founding member of the Cercle Philatélique de Pétange, a member of the local Harmonie, secretary of the Union Commerciale and an insurance agent. He died prematurely on January 21, 1976 at the age of 57.
Weiller type token no. 49, ordered by the intermediary Auguste Nimax and struck at the Fisch & Co workshop in Brussels from the end of WW2 until 1954. This die was used for 52 different tokens, all lobed.
