The Great Eastern Maneuvers of 1901 were major military exercises carried out by part of the French army in eastern France in the early autumn of 1901.On September 21, 1901, in the presence of Russian Emperor Nicholas II and French President Émile Loubet, a review of the Franco-Russian alliance took place, involving 130,000 soldiers under the command of General Joseph Brugère.
