In reference to the USS Oakland (light cruiser)https://catalog.archives.gov/id/10452661
On 1 October, Oakland sailed for Okinawa to embark homeward bound veterans for a "magic carpet" voyage to San Francisco. Leaving Okinawa on the 3rd, she arrived at San Francisco on the 20th. Navy Day (27 October) observances at Oakland, California were highlighted by the presence of Oakland.
