Comment
The National Library of Perú was founded by Gral. José de San Martín on 1821, starting with books donated by San Martín and Bernardo de Monteagudo, current War and Government Minister, and also the books confiscated to Jesuits, when they were rejected by the Peru Vice-royalty.
This medal in fact commemorates the re-inauguration of the Libraty on 1884, promoted by Ricardo Palma, after most of books were lost during the Chilean occupation during the Pacific War.
