The standing figure holding an anchor is Saint Clement of Rome, born in Rome around 35 BC. He was exiled to Crimea for 20 years for his Christian ideas. In 92 AD, he was enthroned Pope and held this high office until 99 AD, when he died as a martyr under the Roman Empire.
he is said to have died as a martyr during the reign of Emperor Trajan, when he was thrown into the sea weighted down with a ship's anchor.
He thus became the patron saint of sailors, and was always depicted holding an anchor in his arms.
