The Alignments de Carnac are an exceptional site of megalithic alignments located in the communes of Carnac and La Trinité-sur-Mer in the Morbihan department of Brittany (the Carnac region boasts the highest concentration of megaliths in the world), comprising alignments of menhirs, dolmens and covered walkways spread over more than four kilometers. The Carnac alignments are the most famous and impressive megalithic complexes of this period, with almost 4,000 standing stones dating from around 4,500 BC.

Since 1991, visitor numbers on the sites have been regulated, in order to preserve the monuments, the soil and the moorland. However, the alignments are open to the public in high season through guided tours offered by the Maison des Mégalithes, and are freely accessible in winter. The site is managed by the Centre des Monuments Nationaux, a public institution under the supervision of the French Ministry of Culture.

The menhirs are protected as historic monuments by several successive lists and decrees, the first in 1889. In 1996, the megalithic sites of Carnac were included on UNESCO's tentative list of World Heritage Sites in the cultural category.
