Historical figures were born or lived in the Saint-Quentinois region... The most prestigious historical figure held the official position of pastel portrait painter to His Majesty Louis XV:Maurice-Quentin de la Tour.
The Saint-Quentinois artist devoted his life to the pastel technique and to one genre: portraiture.
The Town Hall, a remarkable example of the flamboyant Gothic style, was completed in 1509. Its façade is adorned with 173 sculptures, including whimsical carvings and scenes from the life of the city.
The building has three gables topped by an octagonal, openwork campanile, which houses the 37-bell carillon that gives rhythm to the lives of the people of Saint-Quentin.
