Comment

This token represents a facial view of the cathedral rebuilt on the site of an ancient sanctuary of the 5th century built on the burial place of Denis, the first bishop of Paris who was none other than the Greek Denys the Aeropagite, converted by Saint Paul and sent by Pope Clement I to evangelize Lutetia. He was martyred around the year 250 and Saint Genevieve had a monument erected in his memory on the site of a Gallo-Roman cemetery.
