The house La Boétie was built by Antoine de La Boétie, or La Boytie, criminal lieutenant of the seneschaussée of Sarlat, between 1520 and 1525. Étienne de La Boétie, the friend of Michel de Montaigne, was born here on November 1, 1530.
The house was restored in 1910, after its classification in 1889. For the restoration of the facade on the Place du Peyrou, the architects of the historic monuments were not satisfied with restoring the facade but with restoring it in its most finished form. The window mullions were redone. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maison_de_La_Bo%C3%A9tie
