Requested by Admiral Émile Guépratte, hero of the Dardanelles and member of parliament for Finistère, and Georges Leygues after the First World War, the National Memorial to the Sailors who died for France was built following the law of 26 July 1923. The stele designed by René Quillivic and inaugurated on June 12, 1927 represents a sailor's wife, wearing a mourning headdress, embodying the sadness of the sailor's mother or widow. The bas-reliefs, present on the four sides of the pylon, symbolize the actions carried out by the sailors for the defense of the fatherland. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pointe_Saint-MathieuPrice
