The astronomical observatory is an important site for observation and research. Meteorology and then astronomy were the main reasons for the creation of this observatory.
Astronomy is still the most important field of scientific investigation at Pic du Midi. The observatory is attached to the Observatoire Midi-Pyrénées. It is a UFR of the Toulouse-III-Paul-Sabatier University. Since 1873, researchers and space technicians have been scanning the galaxy in search of unknown celestial phenomena. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pic_du_Midi_de_Bigorre
