Comment

Lourdes is a French commune in the Hautes-Pyrénées department, Occitanie region.

This sculpture, located above the portal of the Rosary Basilica in Lourdes, was chosen to mark the centenary of the basilica's consecration in 1901-2001 (Source: http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lourdes).

Marie-Bernarde Soubirous, also known as Saint Bernadette (in religion Sister Marie-Bernard), born on January 7, 1844 in the Hautes-Pyrénées department at Lourdes (in Bigorre) and died on April 16, 1879 in the Nièvre department at Nevers, was a French girl who claimed to have witnessed eighteen Marian apparitions at the Massabielle grotto between February 11 and July 16, 1858. She became a nun and was canonized in 1933. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernadette_Soubirous
