Before it was criss-crossed by three main roads, which have enabled the development of green tourism and outdoor sports both in summer and winter, notably with the organization of major cycling races, motorized racing and other events, the mountain was criss-crossed by drailles traced by shepherds following the boom in sheep farming between the 14th and mid-19th centuries. Thesehave now been transformed into hiking trails, like the GR 4 and GR 9. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mont_Ventoux
