This token represents the 38 cm SKL/45 Lange Max Coucy Cannon, long mistakenly referred to as "Big Bertha".Coucy was occupied on September 1, 1914. In early 1915, the German army installed a 38 cm cannon in the Coucy Basse forest, firing 750 kg shells at a range of almost 40 kms. This huge naval gun was brought into action via a standard-gauge branch line located 500 m from the Anizy - Coucy - Chauny railroad line.
